Here is a nice video clip that was on the news last night.  It is about High Intensity Interval Training.  It is the same stuff we do at Jewett Strength.  Check it out!  By the way, check out the guy in a dress shirt, can you really get a good workout in wearing a dress shirt?

Hey everyone,

I haven’t posted in a little while, so sorry for the delay. I have been very busy with several things and trying to get more training going.

I am going to start training small grops the begining of April. If you are in the Lake Zurich, IL area, looking for some intense no BS training contact me to apply for a spot. Time and space is limited, so act now to ensure your spot.

As always, you can contact me at:

I look forward to helping and hearing from you.

Kettlebells

Hey everyone,

If you don’t know what this picture of is; it’s called a kettlebell.  I am in love with these pieces of equipment.  It is an old school piece of training equipment and they are a huge craze in the fitness world.

I have heard of them before and have seen them plenty of times but never really used them.  Now I’m hooked!  I can’t wait to learn more techniques and exercises with them.

The kettlebell gives you a heck of a workout in a very short period.  I am getting my technique down and learning more and more.  Love to workout with them and I have kicked my butt quite a few times now.

What a great tool to add to your routine.  Stay tuned for some pictures and videos of some exercises using the kettlebell.

Until next time

Here is my first attempt at a video blog.  I need to work on the lighting, but the content is solid.  I was a little nervous, but want to have the connection to everyone with the video and need the practice so I can use it to show exercises and different techniques and some other fun stuff.

Let me know what you think

New Year’s Resolutions

Filed under: Diet, Exercise, fitness, Nutrition, Strength — Tags: , , , , , — jewettsnc @ 9:19 am

First let me start by saying, “Happy New Year” to everyone!

If you are like many people, you have or are about to set New Year’s resolutions.  My thinking of this is don’t do it.

My reason for this is many people who set the resolutions do nothing to accomplish them.  Instead of resolutions, set goals.

Goal setting if done properly is a great way to set your body and mind on accomplishing something.  Goal setting should be done every year and looked at frequently to make sure you are on track to checking them off your list.

So, do yourself a favor, set GOALS, not resolutions!

Once again I wish you and your family/friends a Happy New Year!

Until next time,

 Dean

Improving

Filed under: athletes, Bodybuilding, Exercise, fitness, Strength, Wrestling — Tags: , — jewettsnc @ 8:00 am

There are a lot of people who believe it is hard to see improvment or to get gains in whatever it is they are doing.  To some it may be true, only because they are letting it be true.    Here are some simply ways to get on the right track and see improvements right away.

1- Switch things up:  If you are not seeing improvement, then you are probably doing something wrong!  By simply switching things up it could SPARK your body to start working again and you will notice the improvements.

2-Work harder: Don’t settle for an OK workout.  Push yourself or don’t bother showing up.  If you really want to see improvments it takes work.  Your mind will quit before your body is ready, so push yourself when it get tough.

3-Think big:  To really improve the way you want you are going to have to start thinking you can do it.  Once you start believing you can do something a crazy thing happens, IT BECOMES REALITY.  If you want to see changes or see improvements in any aspect in your life, start believing you can do anything and  YOU WILL!

Try these out and let me know how it is going.

Thanks all.  Until next time.
